1. Download your pattern
- Right after you pay, open my email and click Open My Pattern Library. Can’t find it? Check your Promotions or Junk folder.
- Type the email you used at checkout.
- I’ll email you a 6-digit code from info@litelierdesigns.com. Type it in. No password needed. Not there in a minute? Check your Junk or Spam folder.
- Click Download all (ZIP) to get every file in one zipped folder.
More tips
- To open the ZIP: Mac: double-click it. Windows: right-click > Extract All.
- iPhone / iPad: open the Files app, tap the ZIP, and a folder appears next to it.
- Android: open Files by Google, tap the ZIP, then Extract.
- Rather not use a ZIP? Click Choose files and save the files one by one.
- Make a folder on your computer called Litelier Patterns and save all your files there.

- New: just released.
- Ready to download: it’s yours and you haven’t downloaded it yet.
- Updated: a newer version is ready. Download it again to get it.
More tips
Your patterns stay up to date. When I update a pattern, the new file goes into your library automatically, and I’ll email you about any big change. Updates are always free.

Got a free pattern with your order? Here’s how to choose it.
2. Open your pattern the right way
💻 From here on (steps 2–4), use a computer (laptop or desktop). Phones and tablets can’t show the size layers. Only have a phone? WhatsApp me or send me a message, tell me your size, and I’ll send you a file with just that size, ready to print.
- Open your files in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Not in your browser, Preview or a phone app: they can hide the size layers and shrink the pattern without telling you.
- Mac: right-click the file > Open With > Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Windows: right-click the file > Open with > Adobe Acrobat Reader.
What’s in your download
- 01-…SEWING-GUIDE: my step-by-step sewing guide, with the size chart
- 02-…HOME-PRINT-A4-US-LETTER: print at home
- 03-…PRINT-SHOP-A0: for a print shop, no taping
- 04-…PROJECTOR: project straight onto your fabric
- 05-…BONUS: only on some patterns
You only need one of 02, 03 or 04. It’s the same pattern in three formats: pick the way you like to work.
3. Choose your size
Choose by measurements, not by age. Ages are only a guide, because every child grows differently.
- Measure your child over light clothes, barefoot: height, chest, waist and hip. How to measure is in your Sewing Guide.
- Find the size in the size chart that matches those measurements.
- Between two sizes? Choose the bigger one. Check the Finished garment measurements in your Sewing Guide to see how roomy it will be.
More tips
- Newborn to 2 years: go by weight or height, whichever is bigger. Girls 11–14 and boys 13–14: go by height.
- For a perfect fit, sew a quick test version from cheap fabric first.
4A. Print: show only your size
- In Adobe Acrobat Reader, go to View > Show/Hide > Side Panels > Layers (older versions: Navigation Panes > Layers).
- Click the 👁 next to every size you don’t need, so it disappears. Keep Legend, Notation and Page Layout on.
Every size has two lines:
- Outer line = cutting line, with the 1 cm (3/8") seam allowance included. This is the line you cut on. Then sew 1 cm (3/8") in from the fabric edge.
- Inner line = sewing line, without seam allowance. It’s hidden (its layer is switched off) and you only need it for pattern alterations: changing the fit, or adding your own seam allowance. To see it, switch its layer on.
4B. Save paper: print only the pages you need 🌿
Your Sewing Guide has two tables that do the work for you:
- Table 3.2 “Paper Pattern Pieces Print Pages” lists the exact page numbers for your size. No blank pages, no extra sizes.
- Table 4.2 “Fabric Rectangle & Square Cut List” lists the simple rectangles (belts, ties, ruffles, waistbands) with their measurements in cm and inches. You don’t need to print them: cut them straight from fabric, or draw them on paper.
✏️ Write down the page numbers from Table 3.2, leaving out the rectangle pieces you’ll cut from Table 4.2.
4C. Print one test page first
- Go to File > Print and set Actual size or 100%. Your printer may call it “No scaling” or “Custom 100%”. Never “Fit to page”.
- Print page 2 only.
- Measure the test square: it must be exactly 2 cm x 2 cm or 1 inch x 1 inch (or check the 5 cm / 3 in bar).
- Right size? Go to 4D.
- Wrong size? Check that the setting is 100% and the paper is right (A4 or US Letter), then test again.
4D. Print your pages
Go to File > Print > Pages and type the page numbers you wrote down (for example: 1–12, 15–18). Keep Actual size / 100%.
📌 Printing at a print shop, or from your phone? The size you chose in Layers isn’t kept when you save or send the file. WhatsApp me or send me a message with your size, and I’ll send you a file with just that size, ready to print.
5. Tape your pattern together
5A. Tape each row
- Pages are named like a map: rows are letters, columns are numbers (A1, A2, A3… then B1, B2…).
- Cut off the top and left edges of each page along the dashed line.
- Tape each row first (A1–A2–A3), lining up the triangles and the dashed frame.
5B. Join the rows and cut
4. Then tape the rows together (row A to row B to row C).
5. Add tape at the corners, and at the start and end of each pattern piece.
6. Cut out your size along the outer line.
💡 I use ½" (1 cm) beige masking tape: you can see through it and it tears by hand.
